In a significant move towards enhancing sustainability and innovation, the UAE Electric Vehicle Charging Network (UAEV), a fully government-owned national network, has announced the introduction of a unified tariff for electric vehicle charging starting from January 2025. This step follows a period of free charging services since May 2023 and is part of the UAE’s commitment to providing advanced infrastructure that supports the country’s vision for a sustainable future.

New Unified Tariff

Under the new tariff, the cost of charging electric vehicles using direct current (DC) will be 1.2 AED per kWh, plus VAT, while the cost for alternating current (AC) charging will be 0.70 AED per kWh, also with VAT. This tariff aims to ensure fairness and transparency in service delivery while supporting operational excellence in the charging network.

Enhancing User Experience

UAEV is also focused on enhancing the experience for electric vehicle users by launching an innovative mobile app, offering several practical features such as finding charging stations, monitoring their status in real-time, and facilitating payment processes, allowing users to make the most of the charging network.

Promoting Sustainability Goals

Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Chairman of UAEV, confirmed that the unified tariff and innovative technologies will help boost sustainable mobility and align with the UAE’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The company also aims to deploy 1,000 charging stations by 2030, strategically located in urban centers and along highways, ensuring comprehensive coverage across all Emirates and providing a seamless charging experience for electric vehicle users.
