One of the most important events in the first quarter of the year was the Arab Strategic Forum, which serves as a major platform for anticipating the future and developing innovative solutions to regional and global challenges. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the forum began in 2001 and has since become a key gathering for leaders and thinkers from around the world. The latest edition of the forum highlighted major geopolitical and economic trends affecting both the region and the world.
In the field of space, the UAE achieved a significant milestone by joining the Lunar Gateway Space Station project, in collaboration with countries such as the United States, Japan, Canada, and the European Union. This project aims to develop a pressure equalization module and positions the UAE at the forefront of scientific space development. The UAE has demonstrated its ability to make remarkable strides in space exploration, from sending astronauts to the International Space Station to launching the “Hope Probe” and “Rashid Mission,” which have enhanced its expertise in space exploration.
Furthermore, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum allocated 100 million dirhams to support Arab research, as part of the UAE’s efforts to boost research and innovation capabilities in the Arab world. This step reflects the UAE’s commitment to developing intellectual capacities in the region and strengthens its position as a hub for innovation and scientific research in the Arab world.
In the field of artificial intelligence and advanced technology, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, issued a law to establish the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The council will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and strategies related to these vital fields. This council represents a significant move toward enhancing the UAE’s ability to keep pace with technological advancements and apply them to serve society and the economy.
On the global stage, the 2024 World Government Summit attracted attention worldwide, gathering 200 global figures, including heads of state, ministers, and experts, to discuss major global trends in 110 interactive dialogue sessions. The summit served as a platform for exchanging ideas and insights on how to address future challenges and provide strategic solutions across various sectors.
On the humanitarian front, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched the “Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Initiative,” dedicating 20 billion dirhams to humanitarian efforts in the world’s most needy communities. This initiative embodies the humanitarian values instilled by the founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and strengthens the UAE’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and promoting sustainable development projects.
In support of youth and talent, Talla Al-Khalil from Iraq was honored as the first “Maker of Hope” in the Arab world as part of the “Makers of Hope” initiative. This initiative recognizes individuals who have made significant humanitarian and community contributions in their countries. Additionally, the Emirate of Sharjah witnessed the opening of the second season of the wheat farm in the Mleiha area, where His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, visited the farm. Among the latest achievements in tourism and hospitality, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, inaugurated the “Anantara Mina Al Arab Resort,” a new addition to the emirate’s collection of luxury hotels.
